Our volunteers & work experience placements helped HFS collect and reuse over 275 tons of furniture and appliances last year.

Most of our volunteers are unemployed people who enjoy getting out and having something constructive to do, being part of a team and working to help others in our community.

HFS aims to provide a friendly workplace, supportive staff and chances to gain skills, build confidence and work towards qualifications.

We have joined forces with several other organisations in local partnerships to widen the range of training available for people who are out of work. Click on our Training section to read about the courses we are running at the moment.

HFS staff rooms are stocked with free refreshments for our hard-working volunteers and provide space to unwind and make friends.

We also pay expenses so that volunteers are not out-of-pocket from giving us their time.
